The Great Plan
My slow & sisyphean efforts to try to paint my pile of shame
Okay so the point of this blog is to have a place where I can brainstorm some ideas around how to get through my monstrous pile of miniatures.
I plan to use this blog post as a sort of central hub for recording/updating where I'm at with my paint plan in the general sense.
My collection is somewhere around 6,000 miniatures and growing. So to paint all that I will need to devise a way to paint them without losing excitement.
Classic Matchups
One way I've been considering tackling the hordes of miniatures is to break them into matchups.
An example of one would be The Empire against the Orcs & Goblins.
The goal would be to spend the year focusing on these two factions. Paint 2,000 points worth of units from each army and then if all goes according to plan celebrate with a battle and even a battle report.
With this is mind I could do that exact thing.
I already have 3,000 points of Empire already painted, so with 2026 almost half over I could focus the rest of my time on the Orcs & Goblins.
The Orcs are at about 600/700 points already painted. Thats off to a good start, but we will have to carefully plan the rest to make sure we reach the deadline.
In the meantime, I will need to improve my photography skills.
The Plan
Okay, so here is the plan for 2026:
- Create a 2000 point Empire army roster.
- Create a 2000 point Orcs & Goblins army roster.
- Paint 2000 points worth of an Empire Army. ☑︎
- Paint 2000 points worth of Orcs & Goblins.
- Play an escalation campaign that culminates in a final pitched battle between the full forces.
